Amen to that. I do see two major sponsors really stepping up to the plate on this issue. Eli Lilly and GSK should be congratulated on their prompt payment for work done. Eli Lilly respects their research partners enough not to do withholds to compel compliance.

While it will take some time to see implemented broadly, our company just released a technology platform (the eClinicalGPS) that automates payments from sponsors to sites based on EDC and other clinical data.  
 
The result for sites is payment as soon as days following the completion of a payable activity. In reality, based on our current sponsors using the system, payment is being turned around in 2-4 weeks following completion of a visit or other payable milestone.
